Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines opened up a two-shot lead at the rain-shortened Yeangder Tournament Players Championship yesterday as he attempts to erase last year’s play-off disappointment.
Tabuena, who lost to Prom Meesawat on the second play-off hole a year ago, shot a bogey-free seven-under-par 65 to lead on 11-under-par 133 in New Taipei City.
The US$500,000 Asian Tour tournament has been slashed to 54 holes after rain washed out the second round at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club on Friday.

Rookie Natipong Srithong of Thailand also shot a 65 to tie for second place alongside home favorite Lin Wen-tang (68).
“I want to seek vengeance. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow. I know I’m playing well at the moment,” Tabuena said.
“There are a few players behind me, including Lin Wen-tang, but I’m not worried,” the 20-year-old said.
“If he can go low, so can I,” he added.
Niall Turner of Ireland, who is recovering from a back injury, shared fourth place with Taiwan’s Lien Lu-sen.
Shaun Norris of South Africa was also in fourth.
Other Taiwanese in the top 30 were Lu Wen-teh and Hsu Hao-sheng who were in a share of 11th on 139 overall; Hung Chun-kang and Hung Chien-yao in a share of 17th on 140; and in a group on 141 for a share of 27th. Kao Shang-hung and Lu Wei-chih.
