Buffalos defeat Clouded Leopards in Taipei hockey

By Grant Dexter  /  Staff reporter

The Buffalos turned around a two-goal deficit to run away 7-4 winners over the Clouded Leopards at Taipei’s Iceland rink on Sunday night, with Buffalos captain Charlie Yang confident they are on course for a good season.

“We have got a good team, I think we can win [the league],” Yang said.

The game was locked at 4-4 at 9 minutes, 10 seconds into the third period, when Adrian Nolan put the Buffalos ahead. What had been a tough affair finished out one-sided, as they added two more goals.

Yang picked Tony Chou — who brought them back into the game with a goal after they had slipped to 1-3 behind in the second period — as their best player.

Forward Mark Swaine also got on the scoresheet.

He said the closeness of the competition was enjoyable, crediting the draft system with keeping the teams even.

“I think we should do quite well,” he said of the team’s chances overall.

In the late game, the Black Bears beat the Leopard Cats 3-2.
