Chris Davis hit his major league-leading 20th homer to ignite a three-run seventh inning as the Baltimore Orioles came back to beat the Detroit Tigers 4-2 on Sunday.
Nate McLouth drove in the go-ahead run for the Orioles, who got a strong pitching performance from rookie pitcher Kevin Gausman. Prince Fielder homered and scored both runs for the Tigers, who have lost five of six games. Rick Porcello (2-3) lost for the first time in seven starts since April 20.
Gausman pitched six impressive innings, striking out Miguel Cabrera and getting the Tigers star to hit into a pair of double plays.
Also in the American League, Clay Buchholz allowed two hits in an abbreviated shutout as the Boston Red Sox got home runs from David Ortiz and Jose Iglesias in a 3-0 victory over the New York Yankees that was stopped after 5-1/2 innings because of rain.
Buchholz (8-0) outpitched Hiroki Kuroda and was pulled after the second of three weather delays.
Red Sox reliever Andrew Miller was announced into the game and was warming up on the mound when play was abruptly halted again, but Buchholz would be credited with a complete game because Miller never faced a batter, according to official scorer Jordan Sprechman.
Just before that, the game had resumed for all of four minutes before heavy rain returned.
The Oakland Athletics shut out the White Sox 2-0 after Josh Donaldson’s sixth-inning sacrifice fly ended a career-best 28-inning scoreless streak by Chicago’s Chris Sale.

In the National League, Patrick Corbin became the major leagues’ first nine-game winner after six innings in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 8-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Corbin (9-0) allowed four runs and six hits, equaling the team record for consecutive wins at the start of the season set by Brandon Webb in 2008. The Diamondbacks are 11-0 in his starts.
Wil Nieves had three hits and two RBIs for Arizona.
Atlanta’s B.J. Upton and Ramiro Pena hit home runs as Paul Maholm won his third straight decision in the Braves’ 6-3 win over the Washington Nationals.

US track and field athletes have about four dozen pieces to choose from when assembling their uniforms at the Olympics. The one grabbing the most attention is a high-cut leotard that barely covers the bikini line and has triggered debate between those who think it is sexist and others who say they do not need the Internet to make sure they have good uniforms. Among those critical or laughing at the uniforms included Paralympian Femita Ayanbeku, sprinter Britton Wilson and even athletes from other countries such as Britain’s Abigail Irozuru, who wrote on social media: “Was ANY female athlete consulted in

Former US Masters champion Zach Johnson was left embarrassed after a foul-mouthed response to ironic cheers from spectators after a triple bogey at Augusta National on Friday. Johnson, the 2007 Masters winner, missed the cut after his three-over-par round of 75 left him on seven-over 151 for 36 holes, his six on the par-three 12th playing a big role in his downfall. Television footage showed Johnson reacting to sarcastic cheers and applause when he tapped in for the triple bogey by yelling: “Oh fuck off.” Such a response would be considered bad form in any golf tournament, but is particularly out of keeping
