NBA: Rockets’ Jeremy Lin still struggles with shooting

Staff writer, with CNA

Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin continued to struggle with his shooting on Wednesday, but that did not stop his team from clinching a 97-90 pre-season victory over the New Orleans Hornets.

In his 30 minutes of on-court action, Lin was still unable to find his shooting rhythm, finishing with two points on 1-of-8 shooting and five assists in the offensive line. He also had three rebounds, two steals and six turnovers, the Rockets’ Web site reported.

The Rockets trailed 45-43 at halftime, but a 17-4 decisive run in the third quarter put the team ahead for good in the game described on the Web site as “filled with a staggering amount of carelessness.”

The two sides made a combined 49 turnovers.

Carlos Delfino scored 20 points, the highest individual score for the Rockets. Chandler Parsons contributed 18 points and Omer Asik added 14 rebounds to help put away their penultimate pre-season game.

Ryan Anderson scored a game-high 23 points for the Hornets, while No. 1 overall draft pick Anthony Davis added 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Davis also had six turnovers.

The Rockets were scheduled to play their last pre-season game yesterday in Orlando against the Magic and are to play their regular-season opener against the Detroit Pistons in Michigan on Wednesday next week.
