Former NBA greats including Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman arrived in Taiwan yesterday to play against a Taiwanese all-star team in an exhibition game scheduled to take place in Kaohsiung later in the week.
The lineup of some of the NBA’s top players of the past two decades, which also includes Mitch Richmond and Horace Grant, will play tomorrow at the Kaohsiung Arena in this year’s Senao International All Star-Alumni Asia Tour-Kaohsiung.
Asked about the latest buzz around Taiwanese-American point guard Jeremy Lin (林書豪), who has just been signed to the Houston Rockets, Pippen said that the former New York Knick plays well, but that each NBA club has its own considerations when it comes to signing players.
Rodman was also asked the same questions, but he did not respond, instead hamming it up by grabbing a reporter’s microphone and pretending to interview other passengers.
Several Taiwanese players from the local Super Basketball League (SBL) are listed on the roster of Taiwan’s All-Star team, including names such as Tien Lei (田壘) of the SBL’s Dacin Tigers and Sean Chen (陳信安) of Pure Youth Construction.
Ticket prices for the game range from NT$500 to NT$4,500 and Formosa TV will broadcast the game live.
