In St Louis, Missouri, Jaime Garcia pitched seven effective innings and hit a two-run triple as St Louis cruised past Cincinnati.
Garcia (2-0) allowed only one run and was aided by four double plays. He also helped himself, hitting a triple off the wall in center field in the sixth inning to make it 7-1 and end the night for opposing pitcher Mat Latos (0-2).
St Louis’ Carlos Beltran hit a two-run homer, his fifth of the season and second of the series.
