This week’s Super Basketball League (SBL) Player of the Week honor went to a very deserving Kibwe Trim who won the nods from members of the Basketball Writers’ Association for his outstanding play, which helped his club take two of three games last weekend for a ticket into the postseason.
The Trinidad and Tobago -native, who played college ball at Sacred Heart University before starting a professional career that included stints in the Middle East, South America, Europe and Japan, racked up 18.7 points and 13 rebounds for Taiwan Beer to lift them past the Yulon Luxgens and Bank of Taiwan in two key wins.
Trim and the rest of the Brew Crew are braced for another tough weekend, starting with a battle against top-ranked Pure Youth Construction tomorrow evening, followed by Sunday’s showdown versus the Taiwan Mobile Cloud Leopards. It will be an uphill battle for Taiwan Beer all the way, since the Builders match up much better at virtually every position against the defending champs except for Trim’s, with Quincy Davis being less aggressive inside the paint compared with Trim. However, the Builders have other weapons such as Chen “Airman” Hsin-an and Doug Creighton.
