Scoring early and often, the Dacin Tigers poured in 31 first-quarter points and went on to defeat Kinmen Kaoliang 95-68 at the Sinjhuang Sports Complex in New Taipei City last night for an auspicious start to the weekend.
The win not only extended the Cats’ current win streak to three, but also secured their second-place spot in the standings as the regular season slowly winds down.
Dacin made their presence immediately felt as Tien Lei took charge on offense by converting a pair of threes in a 10-point first quarter to take a 31-18 lead after 10 minutes of play.

Kinmen Kaoliang answered with a 12-3 run over the next five minutes to pull within four of the Cats with the scoreboard reading 34-30.
However, that was as close as the Distillers got as the Tigers returned the favor with a 7-0 run of their own to reclaim another double-digit cushion by the end of the first half.
The Tigers then widened the gap to as many as 26 points in the latter part of the third as they cruised to an easy victory.
Six different players scored in the double figures, with Tien leading the way with 17 points despite sitting out most of the fourth quarter.
As for Kinmen Kaoliang, forward Lee Jung-wei scored a career-high 22 points, highlighted by perfect six-for-six shooting from the field in the first half, to head a foursome of double-digit scorers for his team.
However, they never seemed comfortable against Dacin’s defense as they turned the ball over 20 times on the night (compared with Dacin’s 11).
