Pittsburgh’s Pascal Dupuis had a short-handed goal and an assist as the depleted Penguins beat the Minnesota Wild 4-2 in the NHL on Tuesday.
James Neal scored for the sixth time this season, while Chris Kunitz and Jordan Staal also got goals for the Penguins, who were winless in their previous three games. They have already played eight times in the first 13 days of the season, improving to 4-2-2.
Cal Clutterbuck had a short-handed goal for Minnesota and Guillaume Latendresse scored for the first time in almost an entire calendar year, but the Wild could not add to their four-game winning streak against the Penguins.

In Washington, Tomas Vokoun blanked his former team with a 20-save performance as Washington beat Florida to improve to 5-0, the best start in franchise history.
Marcus Johansson, Alexander Semin and Jason Chimera scored for the Capitals, who join Detroit as the only NHL teams to win all their games thus far.
The Capitals’ four-game winning streak at home to start the season is also a club record.
Vokoun was rarely tested, but he couldn’t afford a slip-up in a tightly played defensive struggle. It was the 45th NHL shutout for the 35-year-old goalie, who played the previous four seasons with Florida.

In Glendale, Arizona, Dave Bolland scored one third-period goal and had an assist on the other to help Chicago pull away to a victory over Phoenix.
Bolland’s steal and short-handed goal gave Chicago a 4-2 lead 2 minutes, 27 seconds into the third period. His assist helped set up Bryan Bickell’s score that made it 5-2 six minutes later as the Blackhawks outshot Phoenix 35-16.
Marian Hossa, back after missing a game with an upper-body injury, scored Chicago’s first goal when his team had a two-man advantage in the first period. Jonathan Toews, Jamal Mayers and Bryan Bickell also scored for the Blackhawks.
Taylor Pyatt and Ray Whitney scored for Phoenix.

In Los Angeles, Simon Gagne had two goals and an assist in his home debut with Los Angeles as the Kings comfortably beat St Louis.
Jonathan Quick made 27 saves, while Anze Kopitar, Jarret Stoll and captain Dustin Brown each had a goal and an assist as the Kings finally returned home from a two-week, two-continent road trip, kicking off a season of high expectations with a blowout win.
Quick made several spectacular saves while remaining unbeaten in regulation this season.
