Brennan Boesch had two of Detroit’s four home runs while setting career-highs with five hits and five RBIs as the Tigers belted the Texas Rangers 13-7 in the American League on Monday.
Detroit starter Max Scherzer (7-2) pitched just long enough for his first win in nearly a month, when he won his sixth consecutive decision to open the season. He gave up eight hits in five innings.

All of Detroit’s homers came off Colby Lewis (5-6), who gave up nine runs in 3-1/3 innings only five days after pitching eight scoreless innings at Tampa Bay.
RAYS 5, ANGELS 1
In Anaheim, California, David Price took a shutout into the eighth inning, guiding Tampa Bay to victory over Los Angeles.
Price (7-5) allowed one run in seven-plus innings, struck out seven and walked none.
He struck out the side in the fifth.
The Rays took a 2-0 lead in the first on Matt Joyce’s sacrifice fly and Justin Ruggiano’s RBI single. Ruggiano hit his second homer of the season to extend the Rays’ lead to 4-0 and Joyce’s RBI single in the seventh made it 5-0.
Angels starter Tyler Chatwood (3-3) gave up five runs in seven innings.
ORIOLES 4, ATHLETICS 2
In Baltimore, Maryland, Oakland suffered their seventh straight defeat, beaten by Baltimore.
Orioles starter Brian Matusz (1-0) allowed two runs in 5-1/3 innings to earn his first win of the season after spending two months on the disabled list.
Matt Wieters had two hits, an RBI and he scored a run for Baltimore, who led 4-0 after two innings against Athletics starter Gio Gonzalez (5-4).
The A’s fell to a season-worst seven games under .500.

Prince Fielder homered and drove in four runs to help the Milwaukee Brewers complete their first four-game sweep in three seasons, beating the Florida Marlins 7-2 in the National League on Monday.
Fielder hit a three-run homer, his 14th of the season, and added an RBI single. Ryan Braun had two hits and scored twice for the Brewers, who were five-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Milwaukee starter Zack Greinke (5-1) allowed two runs in seven innings, winning his fifth consecutive decision and lowering his ERA to 4.83.
The Marlins lost a season-worst fifth game in a row.
The Brewers are 20-6 overall since May 9; the best record in the majors.
PHILLIES 3, DODGERS 1
In Philadelphia, Cliff Lee hit double-digit strikeouts for the sixth time this season, fanning 10 in seven shutout innings to lead Philadelphia over Los Angeles.
Lee (5-5) bounced back from one of his worst starts of the season with one of his best. He walked only one, while continuing to strike out batters at a career-best rate. He has 15 career games with double-digit strikeouts — six this season.
Ryan Madson allowed a run in the ninth, before finishing for his 13th save.
