Villarreal striker Santi Cazorla scored two first-half goals as reigning World Cup champion Spain routed the US 4-0 on Saturday in an international soccer friendly.
Cazorla found the back of the net in the 28th and 41st minutes, each time while unmarked at the top of the penalty area and scoring off deadly centering passes from Manchester City playmaker David Silva.
Alvaro Negredo took a pass from Xabi Alonzo and raced through a struggling US defense to blast a goal past US goalkeeper Tim Howard in the 32nd minute.

Fernando Torres banked in a shot off the goalpost to his right from the heart of the penalty area in the 73rd minute to give Spain a 4-0 lead. Borja Valero split a defensive seam with a perfect lead pass to the Chelsea striker.
The Spaniards, who boasted six players from Champions League winners Barcelona, improved to 4-1 all-time against the US, who upset Spain 2-0 in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup semi-finals in South Africa in their last meeting.
The US were without star midfielder Landon Donovan, who felt ill, but is expected to play when the US face Canada tomorrow in Detroit, Michigan, for their North American CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament opener.
Mindful of the upcoming tournament, US coach Bob Bradley kept several regulars out of the starting lineup and Spain dominated the attack and tempo from the start.
The Spaniards had an early goal waved off on a questionable offside call and barely missed another when Negredo, who had 20 goals for Sevilla last season, chipped a shot over US captain Howard that went off the crossbar in the 12th minute.
Spain World Cup hero David Villa, a Real Madrid standout, forced a tough save from Everton’s Howard in the 16th minute as well. The Spaniards dominated ball possession with skillful passing and elusive movement away from the ball.
AUSTRALIA VS NZ

Josh Kennedy celebrated his return to Australian colors after an eight-month absence with two goals as the Socceroos beat neighbors New Zealand 3-0 in a friendly at a rain-soaked Adelaide Oval yesterday.
The 28-year-old striker, who missed Australia’s run to the Asian Cup final earlier this year with a back problem, made the most of a mix-up in the 10th minute and slack defending in the 59th to score his eighth and ninth international goals.
Australia midfielder James Troisi later capped a fine performance by rounding off the scoring with a penalty deep into injury-time.
Weakened by injury and jet-lagged after their journey from the US, where they lost 3-0 to Mexico on Wednesday, New Zealand created precious few scoring chances and the profligate Socceroos should have won more convincingly.
Coach Holger Osieck, whose charges beat his native Germany in March, was satisfied with an eighth win in 13 matches since he took over last year, particularly in the absence of Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell and Mark Schwarzer.
“There were a lot of positives and I got what I wanted to see,” he said. “I think overall apart from the score and the overall performance, I think today I found a lot more depth for the future.”
“We created some excellent stuff up front, but we weren’t clinical enough to finish and that is definitely something I dislike,” he added.
Kennedy had a couple of glaring misses, but made no mistake when a miscommunication between All Whites Jeremy Brockie and Glen Ross allowed him to dispossess goalkeeper Ross and fire the ball into an empty net after 10 minutes.
Forward Chris Wood blasted New Zealand’s best chance over the bar just after the break, before Kennedy rose unmarked to double the lead with a free header from a Dario Vidosic corner just ahead of the hour mark.
New Zealand were well beaten by the time Ben Sigmund brought down live-wire striker Robbie Kruse three minutes into injury-time to allow Troisi his moment of glory in front of his hometown fans.
BRAZIL VS NETHERLANDS

Brazil and the Netherlands played to a scoreless draw in a friendly in the central Brazilian city of Goiania on Saturday.
After a sluggish first half in which Brazil seldom penetrated the tight Netherlands defense, the home side appeared energized in the second spell, but their chances mainly ended in the safe arms of Netherlands goalkeeper Tim Krul.
The Netherlands often took the attack into Brazil territory and forced some brilliant saves by Julio Cesar before 30,000 people at Serra Dourada Stadium.
Four-time NBA all-star DeMarcus Cousins arrived in Taiwan with his family early yesterday to finish his renewed contract with the Taiwan Beer Leopards in the T1 League. Cousins initially played a four-game contract with the Leopards in January. On March 18, the Taoyuan-based team announced that Cousins had renewed his contract. “Hi what’s up Leopard fans, I’m back. I’m excited to be back and can’t wait to join the team,” Cousins said in a video posted on the Leopard’s Facebook page. “Most of all, can’t wait to see you guys, the fans, next weekend. So make sure you come out and support the Beer
Revelations of positive doping tests for nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers that went unpunished sparked an intense flurry of accusations and legal threats between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the head of the US drug-fighting organization, who has long been one of WADA’s fiercest critics. WADA on Saturday said it was turning to legal counsel to address a statement released by US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) CEO Travis Tygart, who said WADA and anti-doping authorities in China swept positive tests “under the carpet by failing to fairly and evenly follow the global rules that apply to everyone else in the world.” The
Taiwanese judoka Yang Yung-wei on Saturday won silver in the men’s under-60kg category at the Asian Judo Championships in Hong Kong. Nicknamed the “judo heartthrob” in Taiwan, the Olympic silver-medalist missed out on his first Asian Championships gold when he lost to Japanese judoka Taiki Nakamura in the finals. Yang defeated three opponents on Saturday to reach the final after receiving a bye through the round of 32. He first topped Laotian Soukphaxay Sithisane in the round of 16 with two seoi nage (over-the-shoulder throws), then ousted Indian Vijay Kumar Yadav in the quarter-finals with his signature ude hishigi sankaku gatame (triangular armlock). He
Rafael Nadal on Wednesday said the upcoming French Open would be the moment to “give everything and die” on the court after his comeback from injury in Barcelona was curtailed by Alex de Minaur. The 22-time Grand Slam title winner, back playing this week after three months on the sidelines, battled well, but eventually crumbled 7-5, 6-1 against the world No. 11 from Australia in the second round. Nadal, 37, who missed virtually all of last season, is hoping to compete at the French Open next month where he is the record 14-time champion. The Spaniard said the clash with De Minaur was
