Jarret Stoll scored the only shootout goal in the fourth round as Los Angeles headed into the NHL All-Star break with its third straight victory, 3-2 over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.
Jonathan Quick made 22 saves and stopped all four San Jose tries in the shootout, ending the Sharks’ four-game winning streak.
Ryan Smyth scored his 19th goal and Alexei Ponikarovsky tied it early in the third period for the Kings.
Ryane Clowe and Devin Setoguchi scored 39 seconds apart late in the second period for the Sharks.

In Atlanta, Georgia, Ondrej Pavelec made 36 saves as Atlanta won for only the fifth time in 17 games, blanking the Washington Capitals.
The Thrashers ended a three-game losing streak that included a 7-1 rout at Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Nik Antropov scored the only goal at 11:21 of the second period after Washington defenseman Jeff Schultz lost control of a bouncing puck backing into his own zone. Antropov got his ninth goal and fifth point in six games.
CANUCKS 2, PREDATORS 1
In Vancouver, Lee Sweatt scored the winning goal with 7:29 left in his first NHL game to lead the Vancouver Canucks over Nashville.
Sweatt, who played the last four seasons in Europe, put the Canucks ahead for good less than two minutes after Alexandre Burrows leveled the score in the third period.
Roberto Luongo finished with 26 saves for the Canucks, who have won two in a row after a 0-1-3 slide.
Rinne finished with 33 saves for the Predators, who lost consecutive games for the first time since late December.
BRUINS 2, PANTHERS 1
In Boston, Tim Thomas stopped 34 shots to lead surging Boston over the Florida Panthers.
Brad Marchand and Milan Lucic scored for the Bruins, who have won seven of their last 10 games.
Bryan Allen scored for Florida, and Tomas Vokoun made 33 saves.
After the Panthers pulled Vokoun with 1:08 left, former Bruin Dennis Wideman put a shot on net in the game’s final seconds, but Thomas saved it with his body.
HURRICANES 4, ISLANDERS 2
In Uniondale, New York, Eric Staal scored two goals and assisted on another to help Carolina beat the New York Islanders.
Zach Boychuk and Brandon Sutter also scored and Cam Ward made 23 saves for Hurricanes, who have won three of their last four games.
Michael Grabner and Andrew MacDonald scored for New York.
