NBA: Heat down shorthanded Bobcats 96-82

LeBron James scored 38 points and Dwyane Wade added 31 points as the Miami Heat dominated the second half to beat the short-handed Charlotte Bobcats 96-82 on Monday for their 11th straight road win.

Playing for the first time against Paul Silas, his first NBA coach in Cleveland, James scored 26 of his points in the second half and added nine rebounds. Wade grabbed 11 boards in Miami’s 18th win in 19 games.

Stephen Jackson scored 22 points and D.J. Augustin added 16 for the Bobcats, who shot 38 percent from the field with 15 turnovers.

MAGIC 110, WARRIORS 90

In Orlando, Florida, Hedo Turkoglu had 10 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists and Dwight Howard added 22 points and 17 rebounds as Orlando beat Golden State.

Jason Richardson scored 20 points for the Magic, who had 76 points in the second half after trailing 53-44 at halftime.

Monta Ellis led Golden State with 20 points and Dorell Wright added 17 points.

CELTICS 96, T’WOLVES 93

In Boston, Paul Pierce scored 23 points to help Boston overcome a double-digit deficit — and another double-digit rebounding performance by Kevin Love — to beat Minnesota.

Love had 24 rebounds and 12 points, but he airballed a jumper with just over a minute left and Minnesota trailing by one. Michael Beasley scored 19, including Minnesota’s last eight points, but his desperation three-pointer at the buzzer bounced harmlessly off the backboard.

Ray Allen scored 20, Glen Davis had 17 points and Rajon Rondo added 16 assists for the Celtics, who haven’t lost to the Timberwolves since they traded Kevin Garnett to Boston in the summer of 2007.

HORNETS 84, 76ERS 77

In New Orleans, David West scored 17 points as New Orleans held on to beat Philadelphia.

Paul scored 15 points, using a speedy left-to-right dribble on a clutch driving layup off the glass with just under 20 seconds left to give the Hornets an 82-77 lead. Emeka Okafor had 13 points and former Sixer Willie Green added 11 for New Orleans.

Brand led Philadelphia with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Andres Nocioni had 13 points and Jrue Holiday and Marreese Speights each had 12 points.

NUGGETS 113, ROCKETS 106

In Denver, Colorado, Carmelo Anthony scored 33 points as the Nuggets pulled ahead late in the fourth quarter to beat Houston for their fourth consecutive win.

Anthony had 11 rebounds and made 13 of 14 free throws to help the Nuggets fend off the Rockets with his eighth game of 30 or more points this season.

Nene added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Arron Afflalo scored 15 points for Denver.

Houston were led by Luis Scola with 24 points. Kyle Lowry had 21 points and Brad Miller had 11 rebounds and 10 points.

JAZZ 102, PISTONS 97

In Salt Lake City, Utah, Deron Williams scored 22 points, including a pair of late free throws, as Utah beat Detroit for the 11th straight time.

Raja Bell hit a three-pointer and sank two free throws to give the Jazz a 100-97 lead with 17.9 seconds left.

Tracy McGrady, starting in place of Rodney Stuckey, missed a three-pointer and Al Jefferson grabbed the rebound to seal the victory.

Tayshaun Prince led Detroit with 26 points and McGrady came within one rebound of a triple double. He had 11 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.
