Nathan Horton scored his fourth goal in five games and Tim Thomas made 38 saves as the Boston Bruins won their fourth straight game with a 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Thursday.
Michael Ryder and rookie Jordan Caron also scored for Boston.
Patrice Bergeron earned his first points of the season with a pair of assists and Tyler Seguin, this year’s No. 2 overall draft choice, also had an assist in his first game in front of a Boston crowd.

In Toronto, Ruslan Fedotenko and Artem Anisimov scored first period goals and Martin Biron made 24 saves in his Rangers’ debut as New York beat Toronto.
Biron was strong in goal for the Rangers (2-2-1), who despite missing top forwards Marian Gaborik and Chris Drury, earned their first victory since opening night at Buffalo.
Colby Armstrong scored for Toronto.
DUCKS 3, FLYERS 2
In Philadelphia, Ryan Getzlaf scored with 1:46 left in the third period, sending Anaheim over Philadelphia.
Flyers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky appeared to have covered the puck, but officials said it went over the line. The goal was confirmed by video replay.
Lubomir Visnovsky and Jason Blake also scored for Anaheim, which had scored only three goals in four road games. Visnovsky made it 1-0 just 35 seconds into the game. Scott Hartnell tied it nearly three minutes later.
Claude Giroux also scored for the Flyers.
RED WINGS 4, FLAMES 2
In Detroit, Johan Franzen’s third period goal broke a tie and Henrik Zetterberg and Todd Bertuzzi both had a goal and an assist in Detroit’s win over Calgary.
Nicklas Lidstrom also scored for Detroit. Pavel Datsyuk had two assists and Jimmy Howard made 34 saves.
Mikael Backlund scored both of Calgary’s goals and Curtis Glencross assisted on each. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 26 shots.
DEVILS 3, CANADIENS 0
In Montreal, Martin Brodeur made 29 saves for his 112th NHL shutout and Jason Arnott had a goal and an assist to lead New Jersey past Montreal.
Brodeur stuck out his left pad to stop Mike Cammalleri early in the third, protecting a 2-0 lead on his way to his second shutout of the season and 604th career win. The league’s career leader in wins and shutouts stopped 24 shots in a 1-0 win at Buffalo on Oct. 13 in New Jersey’s only other victory.
Arnott, who scored in the second, assisted on Matt Taormina’s goal 3:38 into the third. Zach Parise also scored for New Jersey.
ISLANDERS 3, LIGHTNING 2, OT
In Tampa, Florida, Matt Moulson scored a delayed, video-reviewed goal in overtime to help the New York Islanders beat Tampa.
Moulson was credited with an in-close goal at 1:56. Officials reviewing the play ruled that the puck went off the glove of goalie Dan Ellis and completely over the goal line before Ellis swiped the puck back into play.
Michael Grabner and P.A. Parenteau also scored for the Islanders.
The Lightning got goals from Sean Bergenheim and Martin St Louis.

In Sunrise, Florida, Tom Wandell scored two goals to carry Dallas over Florida.
Steve Ott and James Neal also scored for the Stars (5-1). Jamie Benn, back in the lineup after missing three games due to concussion-like symptoms, had three assists. Kari Lehtonen made 28 saves and improved to 13-5-4 against Florida.
Lehtonen was 3:06 away from his fourth shutout against the Panthers when Stephen Weiss scored his first of the season.
