Justin Masterson beat his former team by pitching a two-hitter for his first career shutout as the Cleveland Indians routed the Boston Red Sox 11-0 on Wednesday.
Travis Hafner hit his 10th career grand slam in an eight-run eighth inning against Boston’s bullpen.
Masterson (2-5) faced the Red Sox for the first time. It was the first complete-game shutout by an Indians pitcher against Boston since Jack McDowell in 1996.
Masterson was sent from Boston to Cleveland with two minor league pitchers for Victor Martinez just before last year’s trade deadline.
WHITE SOX 15, TIGERS 3
At Chicago, Ramon Castro and Brent Lillibridge hit three-run homers as Chicago routed Detroit.
Castro connected in a seven-run fourth inning and Lillibridge’s pinch-hit shot came in a seven-run eighth. Alexei Ramirez also homered and Omar Vizquel had three hits and drove in three runs.
Freddy Garcia (6-3) improved to 18-6 lifetime against the Tigers.
Rick Porcello (4-6) allowed eight runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.
YANKEES 4, ORIOLES 2
At Baltimore, CC Sabathia allowed two runs over seven innings in another winning effort against Baltimore, and Robinson Cano contributed three hits for the New York Yankees.
Sabathia (6-3) defeated Baltimore for the second time in a week.
Joba Chamberlain worked the eighth and Mariano Rivera got three outs for his 14th save.

Derrek Lee hit his 300th homer, Marlon Byrd and Geovany Soto hit two each as the Chicago Cubs powered past the Milwaukee Brewers 9-4 on Wednesday.
Chicago’s five homers marked its biggest outburst this season and were more than the Cubs hit in the previous nine games combined.
All the offense helped starter Carlos Zambrano (2-4) win his first game since returning to the rotation.
Byrd hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Soto led off with a shot in the second and Chicago launched three more in the fifth off Randy Wolf (4-6) when Lee hit his 300th, Byrd followed with another and Soto capped it with a two-run drive that made it 8-3.
DODGERS 4, CARDINALS 3
At Los Angeles, Manny Ramirez hit a two-run homer and Blake DeWitt also had two RBIs as Los Angeles swept a three-game series from the St Louis Cardinals.
James Loney tied a career high with four hits, helping Los Angeles extend St Louis’ losing streak to a season-worst four.
The Dodgers won for the 23rd time in 30 games.
Clayton Kershaw (6-3) struck out 10 in seven innings. Jonathan Broxton gave up a leadoff single to Albert Pujols in the ninth and a two-out, ground-rule double to Yadier Molina before retiring Randy Winn on a grounder for his 16th save in 18 chances.
Adam Wainwright (8-4) gave up four runs, eight hits and a season-high five walks in six innings.

At Washington, Ryan Zimmerman grounded a go-ahead single off the shin of Pittsburgh reliever D.J. Carrasco in the seventh inning as Washington beat the Pirates.
Pittsburgh’s Brad Lincoln, the fourth overall pick in the 2006 draft, gave up five runs in six innings in his first major league game.
It was 5-5 when Cristian Guzman singled in the seventh off Carrasco (1-2) and later scored on Zimmerman’s hit.

Four-time NBA all-star DeMarcus Cousins arrived in Taiwan with his family early yesterday to finish his renewed contract with the Taiwan Beer Leopards in the T1 League.
