The Chicago Bulls have traded forward Tyrus Thomas to the Charlotte Bobcats and guard John Salmons to the Milwaukee Bucks to help give them more salary cap flexibility, the NBA team announced on Thursday.
For Thomas, Chicago acquired guards Ronald “Flip” Murray and Acie Law plus a future first round draft choice from Charlotte, the Bulls said on their Web site.
Forwards Joe Alexander and Hakim Warrick will be joining the Bulls as a part of the trade with Milwaukee. The Bucks also acquired the Bulls’ second round draft choices next year and in 2012.
“This trade is another step in the process of building our team and getting better,” Bulls general manager Gar Forman said.
Milwaukee also traded center Francisco Elson and guard Jodie Meeks to the Philadelphia 76ers for center Primoz Brezec and guard Royal Ivey, Bucks general manager John Hammond said.
They also took Philadelphia’s second round pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
Memphis have acquired guard/forward Ronnie Brewer in a trade with the Utah Jazz, the Grizzlies said on their Web site. Memphis sent a protected first-round draft pick to the Jazz in exchange.

Taiwanese gymnast Lee Chih-kai failed to secure an Olympic berth in the pommel horse following a second-place finish at the last qualifier in Doha on Friday, a performance that Lee and his coach called “unconvincing.” The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist finished runner-up in the final after scoring 6.6 for degree of difficulty and 8.800 for execution for a combined score of 15.400. That was just 0.100 short of Jordan’s Ahmad Abu Al Soud, who had qualified for the event in Paris before the Apparatus World Cup series in Qatar’s capital.
