Marian Gaborik scored two goals and added an assist as the New York Rangers beat the Phoenix Coyotes 5-2 on Monday.

The Rangers netted two goals on five shots in the first period and two more on only six more attempts in the second to chase goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

Gaborik’s first score of the night gave New York a 2-0 lead and his second — the 10th this season — made it 4-0. In between, Gaborik set up Vinny Prospal for another goal.

The Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak that came on the heels of a seven-game winning run.

Artem Anisimov scored for the second straight game, Enver Lisin added a third-period goal and Henrik Lundqvist made 30 saves for the Rangers.

CANADIENS 3, ISLANDERS 2, OT

At Montreal, Roman Hamrlik scored 1:32 into overtime to lift Montreal past New York for their fourth straight win.

Hamrlik took Tomas Plekanec’s centering flip pass from the right side on a 2-on-1 and put a shot into the open left side.

Jeff Tambellini drew New York even for the second time 15:24 into the third with his second power-play goal of the game.

BLACKHAWKS 3, WILD 1

At Chicago, Patrick Kane scored a spectacular third-period goal just 3:25 after Minnesota had made it a one-goal game and Chicago left the Wild winless from eight road games.

Cristobal Huet made 20 saves and extended his shutout streak to 113 minutes, 2 seconds before Andrew Brunette’s power-play goal on a wild scramble in front of the net cut Chicago’s lead to 2-1 at 3:29 of the third.

Dave Bolland and Troy Brouwer scored in the first period for the Blackhawks.

Minnesota became the first NHL team to earn zero points in their opening eight road games since Pittsburgh in 1996.

MAPLE LEAFS 6, DUCKS 3

At Anaheim, California, Niklas Hagman scored three of Toronto’s five power-play goals as the Maple Leafs finally earned their first victory of the season.
