Raptors deny Wolves’ Cinderella run in CIHL

STAFF WRITER

The Hsinchu Raptors emerged as the victors from a deciding Game Three in the Chinese Taipei Ice Hockey League International Division Championship Finals on Sunday night.

The Raptors cruised to a 7-4 victory over the Taipei Wolves in a game that saw eventual playoff-MVP award winner Andy Shen pot four goals, while his younger brother Eric snuck in two of his own.

The Wolves were undermanned throughout the series, but fought valiantly to the end, with players such as Mike Milone, Alex Waylen and Adrian Nolan earning the respect of many along the way.

The Wolves won Game One on Friday 4-3 with fantastic goaltending from Andrew Tingley, while the Raptors won Game Two on Saturday 4-2, led by team leader Bob Macleod’s two goals.

Game Two also saw some unfortunate misconducts for the Wolves, which sealed their fate that evening.

Attendance for the three nights was estimated at more than 2,500.
