Halladay improved to 10-0, with a 2.82 ERA in his past 11 starts against Baltimore. He gave up three earned runs in eight innings, walking just one and striking out six.

In St Petersburg, Florida, Tampa Bay’s Evan Longoria extended his impressive hitting against Boston, crunching a grand slam.
Carlos Pena also homered for the Rays, who scored all six runs in the fifth inning, thanks to Longoria driving in four runs for the second straight game.
The defending AL champions improved to 4-1 against Boston.

In New York, catcher Jorge Posada hit a two-run single in the ninth inning to complete New York’s comeback from a five-run deficit to edge Los Angeles.
New York led by four runs in the sixth inning, fell behind 9-4, then closed in to 9-8 in the eighth.
Then in the ninth, Angels pitcher Brian Fuentes walked the lead-off man and gave up two singles to load the bases. Posada, who homered in the first, singled to left-center, sending the Yankees running onto the field to celebrate their sixth straight home win and fourth straight overall.

In Seattle, Jose Lopez hit an RBI single on the 14th pitch with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, as the home team rallied from five runs down to beat Oakland.
It was Lopez’s third career game-winning hit and he had to work a little extra for this one. After going to a 2-2 count against pitcher Russ Springer, Lopez fouled off nine consecutive pitches.
With the crowd and his entire dugout standing, Lopez lined the final pitch into right-center field.
It was Lopez’s third RBI of the game, with Seattle coming back after being down 6-1.

Russell Martin was walked with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the San Diego Padres in the National League on Friday.
Padres pitcher Duaner Sanchez gave up a leadoff single in the ninth to Rafael Furcal. Orlando Hudson bunted into a force play and advanced on a wild pitch to Manny Ramirez. Sanchez walked Ramirez intentionally, struck out James Loney for the second out, then loaded the bases by walking Matt Kemp. Martin fouled off several two-strike pitches before being walked on a 3-2 pitch.

In Chicago, Ryan Theriot hit his first-ever grand slam to help Chicago over Florida.
Theriot, a slap-hitting shortstop, pulled a pitch into the second row of the left-field bleachers to give Chicago a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning.
