Younis Khan Pakistan captain: report

Television reports say prolific batsman Younis Khan has been named Pakistan cricket captain in place of Shoaib Malik.

“Younis has agreed to lead the side after meeting with officials of the PCB [Pakistan Cricket Board] for 15 minutes,” Pakistan’s GEO television said yesterday.

Malik was appointed captain for an indefinite period earlier this month, but the PCB has been under pressure after the national team suffered its heaviest ever limited-overs defeat against Sri Lanka at Lahore on Saturday to lose a three match one-day series.

Sri Lanka, who lost the first match by eight wickets, went on to wrap up the series with a 129-run win in the second match and a 234-run victory in the third.
