“When I saw the needles they were going to use 10 minutes before the game started, I went white — I hate needles,” the Serb said. “I was screaming when the doctor put the needle in and I had to hold onto one of the physios, but I had to do it to get through the game.”
After Williams won the first set-tie breaker 10/8, Jankovic rallied and ended up breaking her opponent five times in the match which lasted two hours and 45 minutes.
Former champ Petrova won her semi in straight sets against Belarussian Victoria Azarenka. Petrova, who won here in 2006, needed just one hour 29 minutes to seal a 6-4, 6-4 win over Azarenka.

Dmitry Tursunov used his powerful serve to beat Radek Stepanek 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday and reach the Open de Moselle final.
The fifth-seeded Russian had four aces in the first set and won 89 percent of his first-serve points.
Tursunov will face Paul-Henri Mathieu in the final. The fourth-seeded Mathieu defeated Adrian Mannarino 7-6 (8), 7-6 (1) in an all-French semi-final match.
