Sweden¡¦s Nilsson on course for St Omer Open victory

Sweden¡¦s Christian Nilsson stayed on course for victory in the St. Omer Open on Saturday when a third round one-under 70 preserved his two-shot lead.

Nilsson, who equaled the course record with a seven-under 64 on Friday, leads Englishman Robert Coles and Francois Delamontagne of France, but his advantage could have been bigger had he not double-bogeyed the 17th hole.

The 29-year-old had not dropped a shot for 34 holes until the par-three 17th ended that run, but he finished on a high with a birdie at the last to sit four-under going into the final round.

¡§I was really happy to finish like that after what happened on the 17th,¡¨ said Nilsson, who is chasing his first European Tour win.

¡§I had a long, tough putt, which I over-hit and had to chip back, but I needed to let it go, forget about it and I did,¡¨ he said.

Coles, who posted his best round of the season with a 66, carded five birdies on the front nine.
