Hakuho still unbeaten after six days

Grand champion Hakuho pushed out Wakanoho, adding another victory to stay unbeaten in a two-way lead at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament.

The Mongolian grand champion grabbed the No. 2 maegashira’s upper arm and sent him to the ringside, thrusting him in the chest to send him out of the straw ridge.

Hakuho, seeking a seventh title after a final-day loss to grand champion Asashoryu in March, is now 6-0. Wakanoho slipped to 2-4.

Bulgarian ozeki Kotooshu also kept his record perfect, taking his share of the top spot. Kotooshu gripped Baruto from both sides and bulldozed him out, leaving the Estonian top maegashira winless.

Kotooshu must emerge with a winning record at the 15-day tournament to maintain his ozeki status.

Asashoryu sent fellow Mongolian Kyokutenho tumbling down to the front row of spectator seats with a vicious shove. The No. 2 maegashira fell to 1-5.

Asashoryu sits one victory behind the leaders at 5-1 with four lower-ranked wrestlers.
