MLB: Indians beat New York in bottom of ninth

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Cleveland scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the New York Yankees 4-3 on Saturday, giving the Indians their fifth straight win in the American League.
Victor Martinez¡¦s bases-loaded single scored Grady Sizemore from third base with one out in the ninth.
Martinez slapped a pitch into left field to bring in Sizemore, who moments earlier came up limping while running the bases. But Cleveland¡¦s speedy center fielder scored easily after Martinez came through with his first career walk-off hit.
The Yankees dropped their third straight.
Orioles 5, White Sox 1, 1st game White Sox 6, Orioles 5, 2nd game
In Chicago, the home side got a bottom of the ninth winner in the late game to split its double-header against Baltimore.
Brian Anderson hit a bases-loaded single off Randor Bierd to score the winner for the White Sox.
Chicago got out of a one-out bases-loaded jam in the top of the ninth to set the stage for Anderson¡¦s winner.
Baltimore captured the opener thanks to pitcher Brian Burres, who allowed just three singles in eight shutout innings.
Tigers 6, Angels 4
In Detroit, Placido Polanco and Magglio Ordonez each drove in a pair of runs as Detroit beat Los Angeles.
After a dire start to the season, the Tigers are now within three games of the Central Division lead.
Rays 2, Red Sox 1
In St. Petersburg, Florida, Tampa Bay edged Boston to establish its first five-game winning streak since 2005.
Akinori Iwamura homered in the eighth inning for the Rays. The two-out, two-run homer was his first this season.
Boston has lost four in a row, giving up leadership of the East Division.
Mariners 5, Athletics 3
In Seattle, Erik Bedard gave up only two hits in 6 2-3 scoreless innings in his return from the disabled list, leading Seattle over Oakland.
Coming back from inflammation in his left hip, Bedard¡¦s only mistakes were four walks, a double in the fifth and a single in the seventh. Bedard struck out four and threw just 95 pitches.

The Los Angeles Dodgers piled on 10 runs in the first inning before easing up to beat the Colorado Rockies 11-3 in the National League on Saturday.
Matt Kemp hit a grand slam to cap the 10-run onslaught, in a game delayed 18 minutes when plate umpire Kerwin Danley was hit in the jaw by a pitch and driven off the field in an ambulance.
Danley was struck by a fastball that the catcher missed. He lost consciousness briefly, but was conscious and coherent when placed in the ambulance.
Cardinals 4, Astros 3
In St. Louis, the home side ended Houston¡¦s six-game winning streak.
Skip Schumaker singled to left field to score pinch-runner Cesar Izturis in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cardinals victory.
Phillies 8, Pirates 4
In Pittsburgh, the Philadelphia Phillies downed Pittsburgh to win its third straight.
Ryan Howard homered in his return to the starting lineup as the Phillies scored six times in the first inning.
Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick made it into the eighth before being removed after allowing a home run and a single to lead off the inning. He walked none and struck out two.
The Pirates have lost three in a row.
