Mongolian grand champion Hakuho drove Kaio out of the ring as he tied his record to fellow top ranker Asashoryu, who lost two bouts in a row at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament.

Asashoryu and ozeki Kotomitsuki grabbed each other's belt firmly, not moving for a while. Then Kotomitsuki tried to lift Asashoryu and pushed him down in a swift move. Asashoryu dropped to 11-2, while Kotomitsuki improved to 7-6.

The loss dealt a blow to Mongolian Asashoryu, who was upset by Kotoshogiku on Thursday in his first loss.

Hakuho ozeki Kaio came to grips and Hakuho drove the ozeki backward and out of the ring. Hakuho is 11-2, while Kaio is 8-5.

Mongolian Asasekiryu kept a firm grip on Estonian Baruto's belt and drove him out to improve to 6-7. Baruto dropped to 10-3.

Kyokutenho improved to 9-4 after grabbing Tochiozan's belt and pushed him out. Tochiozan dropped to 10-3. Georgian Kokkai also is 10-3 after defeating Takamisakari, who dropped to 9-4.
