Hawks hold off Heat to earn close overtime victory

The Atlanta Hawks won the NBA's first replay since 1983, holding off the Miami Heat 114-111 in overtime on Saturday in the completion of a protested game.

The Hawks then won the regularly scheduled contest 97-94 as Joe Johnson matched a season high with 39 points. Ricky Davis led Miami with 27 points, and Dwyane Wade added 24.

The teams opened the night by replaying the final 51.9 seconds of a Dec. 19 game, which was protested by the Heat after the Atlanta statistics crew mistakenly ruled Shaquille O'Neal had fouled out in the extra period. O'Neal was traded to Phoenix last month.

The game resumed from the point of the protest and neither team scored during their brief time on the court. They got a 15-minute break, then returned to the court for their regularly scheduled game.

Rockets 106, Hornets 96

At Houston, Tracy McGrady scored 41 points and Houston stretched its winning streak to 18 games. The last nine games were won by double digits.

The Rockets also made a season-high 14 3-pointers.

Chris Paul had 37 points and 11 assists for New Orleans.

Bobcats 100, Wizards 97

At Washington, Jason Richardson scored 34 points, and Charlotte stretched its winning streak to a franchise-record five consecutive games.

Matt Carroll added 23 points for the fourth-year Bobcats, who went 1-11 during February but are 5-0 in March.

Warriors 104, Magic 95

At Orlando, Florida, Baron Davis scored 33 points and Stephen Jackson had 20 as Golden State overcame a slow start.

The Warriors shot only 35 percent in the first half, but Jackson and Davis sparked a 33-16 run in the third period to seize control as Golden State finished a four-game East Coast swing 3-1.

Celtics 119, Grizzlies 89

At Memphis, Tennessee, Ray Allen scored 23 points and Paul Pierce added 19 to lead Boston to its eighth straight win.

Trail Blazers 120, Knicks 114, OT

At New York, Brandon Roy scored eight of his 27 points in overtime, and Portland overcame Nate Robinson's career-high 45 points to beat New York.
