Ty Conklin kept the Penguins in front throughout by stopping a career-high 50 shots. Jordan Staal and Connor James -- just up from the minors -- also scored for Pittsburgh.

At Raleigh, North Carolina, Sergei Samsonov tapped in his own rebound with 3:24 left in overtime for Carolina to snap New Jersey's five-game winning streak.

    Capitals 4, Wild 1

At Washington, Brooks Laich had two goals and assisted on two others to lead Washington. It was the first two-goal and four-point game for Laich, and gave the Capitals their first win in four games.

Minnesota lost its fourth straight as it continues its tumble in the Western Conference. Brank Radivojevic had the lone goal for the Wild.

    Bruins 4, Senators 0

At Boston, David Krejci scored his first NHL goal, and Tim Thomas stopped 22 shots for his second shutout of the season to lead Boston to a fourth consecutive win.

Zdeno Chara scored twice, including an empty-netter, and Shawn Thornton also scored for the Bruins.

Martin Gerber made 25 saves for Ottawa, which leads the NHL with 210 goals but was blanked for a second consecutive game.

    Canadiens 5, Thrashers 1

At Montreal, Chris Higgins had two goals and an assist as Montreal scored four times in the third period.

Maxim Lapierre, Andrei Markov on the power play, and Sergei Kostitsyn also scored for the Canadiens and Carey Price stopped 26 shots.

    Stars 3, Blues 1

At St. Louis, Loui Eriksson scored twice and Mike Ribeiro added a pair of assists in a three-goal third period for Dallas, which rallied to defeat St. Louis.

The Stars, who trailed 1-0 heading into the third period, also got a goal from Jere Lehtinen to win in St. Louis for the first time in five games. Marty Turco stopped 27 shots for Dallas after being scored on the first shot he faced.

The Blues, who have dropped four straight, got a first-period goal from Keith Tkachuk.

Oilers 4, Red Wings 3, SO

At Edmonton, Alberta, Robert Nilsson scored the lone goal in the shootout, giving Edmonton its NHL-record 13th shootout win this season.

Fernando Pisani sent it to overtime on a late power-play goal when he took a shot through a pile of players in front of goalie Chris Osgood and into the goal with just 28 seconds left to play in regulation.

Tom Gilbert and Geoff Sanderson and scored in regulation for Edmonton, which has won its last five at home.

Pavel Datsyuk, Jonathan Ericsson and Valtteri Filppula scored for Detroit, which lost its third in a row and ninth in 10 games.

At Calgary, Alberta, Paul Stastny set up the tying goal, then scored the overtime winner as Colorado came from behind to beat Calgary.
