New Jersey Devils defeat Senators to secure divsion lead

The New Jersey Devils claimed sole leadership of the NHL's Atlantic Division with a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Arron Asham scored twice and Paul Martin had two assists for the Devils, which moved within two points of the Senators for first place in the Eastern Conference.
The loss was the third straight for the Senators, whose lead in the Northeast Division has been cut to two points.
Rangers 5, Sabres 1
In New York, Sean Avery scored the first of his two goals just 10 seconds in as New York routed Buffalo.
Brandon Dubinsky had a goal and two assists for the Rangers, as the Sabres pulled their goalie Ryan Miller in the first period.
New York leapfrogged Buffalo in the tight Eastern Conference playoff race.
Islanders 4, Thrashers 1
In Uniondale, New York, the home side set franchise records for fewest shots allowed and shot discrepancy while beating Atlanta.
Rick DiPietro came up 77 seconds short of a shutout, and needed to stop just nine shots, while the Islanders had 49.
The Islanders have won three straight to move within three points of a playoff spot despite being last in the Atlantic Division.
Hurricanes 5, Panthers 4
In Raleigh, North Carolina, Carolina extended their home winning streak against Florida to 13 games.
Ray Whitney scored with 4:21 left and Carolina rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to win.
The Hurricanes third-straight victory took them clear top of the Southeast Division.
The Panthers haven't won in Raleigh since 2002.
Canadiens 1, Flyers 0
In Montreal, Carey Price stopped 34 shots for his first NHL shutout as Montreal edged Philadelphia.
Andrei Kostitsyn's highlight reel goal proved the winner for the Canadiens, whose successive wins have moved them within a victory of Northeast Division leaders Ottawa.

In Glendale, Arizona, Radim Vrbata scored a power-play goal with 7:06 left to lift Phoenix past Los Angeles.
Maple Leafs 4, Bruins 3
In Toronto, Darcy Tucker scored his second goal of the game 3:39 into overtime to give Toronto victory over Boston.
Capitals 3, Lightning 2
In Tampa, Florida, Alexander Semin scored the go-ahead goal with 3 minutes left in a wild third period as Washington beat Tampa Bay.
Semin gave Washington a 3-2 lead after they had blown a two-goal lead with just over 4 minutes to play.
Predators 2, Blues 1, OT
In Nashville, Tennessee, Shea Weber scored 40 seconds into overtime to lift Nashville over St. Louis.
Canucks 4, Oilers 2
In Vancouver, British Columbia, Markus Naslund scored the opener and helped set up Daniel Sedin's third-period winner, lifting Vancouver to a fight-filled win over Edmonton.
