Defensemen Mike Commodore and Niclas Wallin scored in the third period, and Cory Stillman netted the power-play winner in overtime for the Carolina Hurricanes to beat the New York Islanders 3-2 in the NHL on Monday.
Andy Hilbert and Miroslav Satan scored second-period goals for the Islanders, who were in control carrying a 2-0 lead into the third period, but Commodore and Wallin each broke 11-game goal droughts to even the score.
Stillman took a pass in front from Eric Staal, during Andy Sutton's cross-checking penalty, and scored past Rick DiPietro with 52 seconds into overtime.

At Pittsburgh, Alexander Ovechkin finished off an exceptional game by teaming with Alexander Semin to beat Pittsburgh goalie Ty Conklin with backhanders in the shootout as Washington came from behind to win.
Ovechkin and Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin had two goals and an assist apiece in a matchup of Russian stars.
Pittsburgh couldn't get the winning goal despite a rare two-man advantage being on the power play for nearly three minutes.
