    Zdeno Chara and Phil Kessel scored shootout goals for the Boston Bruins, who rallied for a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday.

    Chuck Kobasew had two goals in regulation for Boston, which led 2-1 through 40 minutes before the Rangers took a one-goal advantage in the third period.

    Rangers captain Jaromir Jagr scored a goal and helped set up two others, but it wasn't enough to keep New York from its fifth straight road loss (0-3-2).

    Tim Thomas stopped both Rangers shots in the shootout and 36 through overtime.

    Scott Gomez had a goal and an assist, and Henrik Lundqvist made 25 saves for the Rangers, who lost both matchups with the Bruins in Boston during shootouts. Sean Avery also scored.

    Stars 3, Blue Jackets 1

    At Dallas, Mike Smith made 29 saves for Dallas, which snapped Columbus' four-game winning streak.

    Smith, Marty Turco's backup, hadn't played in five of six games. He kept the Stars afloat in the second period when the Blue Jackets dominated with a 14-2 shots advantage but scored only once.

    Brenden Morrow, Stu Barnes and Steve Ott scored for the Stars, 4-2-1 in their last seven games.

    Dallas has won all three meetings with Columbus this season, the first two in shootouts. The teams will play for the fourth and final time Tuesday in Dallas.

    Predators 5, Blues 2

    At St. Louis, Scott Nichol scored a pair of short-handed goals in Nashville's victory over St. Louis.

    J.P. Dumont, David Legwand and Jason Arnott also scored for the Predators, who beat the Blues for the first time this season in four tries. Jarred Smithson assisted on both of Nichol's goals. Chris Mason made 24 saves.

    Blackhawks 2, Coyotes 1, SO

    At Glendale, Arizona, Patrick Lalime had 38 saves, then blocked all three attempts in a shootout to lead Chicago over Phoenix for its fourth consecutive victory.

    Patrick Kane and Martin Havlat scored in the shootout against Phoenix goalie Ilja Bryzgalov, and the Blackhawks clinched the victory when Lalime got his third straight block, on a shot by Peter Mueller, who earlier scored Phoenix's lone goal.

    Flyers 5, Islanders 3

    At Uniondale, New York, Scott Hartnell's third power-play goal snapped a tie, completed his second New York hat trick of the month, and carried Philadelphia to a comeback win over the New York Islanders.

    Hartnell got the Flyers even 3-3 just 54 seconds into the final period. Mike Richards added an insurance goal at 12:11, and Steve Downie also scored for the Flyers.

    Martin Biron earned his 17th win with 28 saves, bolstered by Hartnell's third NHL hat trick. Hartnell staked Philadelphia to a 1-0 lead at 5:21 of the first period before the Islanders scored three straight to go up 3-1 before the break.

    In other games on Saturday, it was:

    * Penguins 2, Canadiens 0

    * Lightning 2, Senators 0

    * Maple Leafs 4, Sabres 2

    * Capitals 5, Panthers 3
