    NHL: Penguins score three goals in 48 seconds, down Leafs

    Three goals in 48 seconds of the third period saw Pittsburgh beat Toronto 6-2 on Thursday, extending its NHL winning streak to a season-best five games.

    Evgeni Malkin had his first NHL three-goal game, two off assists by Sidney Crosby.

    The Penguins showed no aftereffects from their physically demanding Winter Classic victory on Tuesday in Buffalo, the NHL's first regular-season outdoor game in the US.

    Blue Jackets 4, Kings 3

    In Los Angeles, Michael Peca scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 5:05 left, as Columbus edged Los Angeles.

    The Blue Jackets, at 19-16-6, are off to the best start in the franchise's seven-year history.

    The Kings have been held to three goals or less in 23 of their past 26 games.

    Flames 3, Sharks 2, OT

    In San Jose, California, Jarome Iginla scored two goals, including the winner in overtime, as Calgary downed San Jose.

    The Sharks dropped into a tie with Dallas for first place in the Pacific Division with the loss.

    Iginla scored 3:26 into the overtime when he charged into a crowd and pushed the puck through Sharks goalie Evengi Nabokov. It was his 31st goal of the season.

    Panthers 4, Islanders 3, OT

    In Uniondale, New York, Florida snapped a three-game losing streak with victory over New York.

    Jason Cullimore got the winner 1:37 into overtime when he ripped a slap shot from the left circle into the top right corner of the net for his first goal of the season.

    Canucks 3, Rangers 0

    In Vancouver, British Columbia, Vancouver extended its home unbeaten streak to 13 games by beating New York.

    Roberto Luongo stopped 27 shots for his sixth shutout of the season. The Canucks have allowed just 11 goals at home since Nov. 9.

    Bruins 2, Capitals 0

    In Boston, Tim Thomas stopped 31 shots for his first shutout this season as Boston downed Washington.

    Marc Savard broke a scoreless tie in the second period and Boston ended Alex Ovechkin's seven-game point streak.

    Boston has won successive games following a six-game losing streak.

    Predators 5, Oilers 2

    In Nashville, Tennessee, Alexander Radulov scored two goals as Nashville downed Edmonton.

    Nashville goalie Dan Ellis stopped a penalty shot.

    Wild 6, Stars 3

    In St. Paul, Minnesota, Marian Gaborik scored twice for Colorado in its win over Dallas. Pierre-Marc Bouchard added a goal and two assists and Brent Burns had three assists for the Wild.

    The Wild got its first win at its sixth attempt against a team from the top three of the Western Conference.

    Canadiens 6, Lightning 3

    In Montreal, the Canadiens scored three times in the third period to beat Tampa Bay.

    Michael Ryder had two goals for Montreal, which won for just the second time in its past nine games at the Bell Centre.

    Tampa Bay matched a season worst six-game winless streak.

    Coyotes 4, Blackhawks 2

    In Glendale, Arizona, Phoenix downed Chicago to win for just the seventh time in 18 home games.
