Inter Milan and AS Roma both posted comfortable wins on Wednesday to extend their lead atop the Italian league.
Inter Milan beat Lazio 3-0 with a penalty from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and goals from Maicon and David Suazo.

The results gave Inter 34 points, three better than Roma. Juventus are third with 26.
The games were rescheduled from Nov. 11, after both were postponed following the killing of a Lazio fan by police at a highway rest stop, which sparked riots throughout the country. The Atalanta-AC Milan game that day was also suspended and has yet to be rescheduled because Milan are in Japan for the Club World Cup.
At the San Siro, Inter Milan's Ibrahimovic also had a chance in the 17th minutes from a free kick that Lazio's 43-year-old goalkeeper Marco Ballotta had a tough time handling.

Inter earned a penalty in the 21st minute when Guglielmo Stendardo pulled down Nicolas Burdisso at a corner. Ibrahimovic converted for his eighth goal this season, second only to David Trezeguet's 11 goals for Juventus.
Portuguese midfielder Vitor Hugo Gomes Passos, nicknamed "Pele," got his first start and had a fierce shot blocked by Ballotta in the 31st minute. Suazo scored off the rebound but was offside.
Maicon ran in unmarked to redirect a corner and double Inter's lead in the 33rd minute and Suazo's goal was set up by a long pass from Esteban Cambiasso in the 55th minute.
At the Stadio Olimpico, Roma captain Francesco Totti played in the game against Cagliari for the first time since injuring his right foot in October.
Totti's replacement during his injury, Mirko Vucinic, had Roma's first opportunity, but the Montenegro forward missed an open goal in the sixth minute.
Cagliari then threatened twice in a minute with Michele Ferri's shot just wide and a long shot by Alessandro Budel skimming off the top of the crossbar.
In the 23rd minute, a free kick by Totti hit Cagliari's wall.
Taddei was left all alone in the center of the area to head in a free kick by David Pizarro for his first goal in the 28th minute. Eight minutes later, his second came from a shot from the edge of the area following a rebound of an effort from Amantino Mancini.
Taddei also scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Udinese on Sunday.
Ludovic Giuly came on for Totti in the 63rd minute and Mancini hit the crossbar in the 86th minute.
US track and field athletes have about four dozen pieces to choose from when assembling their uniforms at the Olympics. The one grabbing the most attention is a high-cut leotard that barely covers the bikini line and has triggered debate between those who think it is sexist and others who say they do not need the Internet to make sure they have good uniforms. Among those critical or laughing at the uniforms included Paralympian Femita Ayanbeku, sprinter Britton Wilson and even athletes from other countries such as Britain’s Abigail Irozuru, who wrote on social media: “Was ANY female athlete consulted in
Four-time NBA all-star DeMarcus Cousins arrived in Taiwan with his family early yesterday to finish his renewed contract with the Taiwan Beer Leopards in the T1 League. Cousins initially played a four-game contract with the Leopards in January. On March 18, the Taoyuan-based team announced that Cousins had renewed his contract. “Hi what’s up Leopard fans, I’m back. I’m excited to be back and can’t wait to join the team,” Cousins said in a video posted on the Leopard’s Facebook page. “Most of all, can’t wait to see you guys, the fans, next weekend. So make sure you come out and support the Beer
Former US Masters champion Zach Johnson was left embarrassed after a foul-mouthed response to ironic cheers from spectators after a triple bogey at Augusta National on Friday. Johnson, the 2007 Masters winner, missed the cut after his three-over-par round of 75 left him on seven-over 151 for 36 holes, his six on the par-three 12th playing a big role in his downfall. Television footage showed Johnson reacting to sarcastic cheers and applause when he tapped in for the triple bogey by yelling: “Oh fuck off.” Such a response would be considered bad form in any golf tournament, but is particularly out of keeping
The sacred flame for the Paris Olympics was lit yesterday in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Games, in a ceremony inspired by antiquity and marked by messages of hope amid multiple global crises. “In ancient times, the Olympic Games brought together the Greek city states, even — and in particular — during times of war and conflict,” International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach said. “Today, the Olympic Games are the only event that brings the entire world together in peaceful competition. Then as now, the Olympic athletes are sending this powerful message — yes, it is possible to compete fiercely
