Taiwanese duo Chuang Chia-jung (莊佳容) and Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) beat China's Han Xin-yun (韓馨蘊) and Xu Yi-fan (徐一璠) in straight sets to win the women's double title at the China Tennis Open in Beijing yesterday.

They are the first Taiwanese team to take the title at the second-tier WTA tournament.

"I am happy to have won, considering this is our first time at the China Tennis Open," Chuang said.

After the game Chuang thanked her fans and her mother Hsieh Hsiu-lin (謝秀玲) and paid tribute to her opponents.

"As young players, they played very well. They have a promising future ahead of them," she said.

Chuang and Hsieh have teamed up in professional tournaments since 2003, winning three challenger events and losing in the final of a WTA tournament in Seoul.

Recently, Chuang has partnered fellow Taiwanese Chan Yung-jan (詹詠然) and had not played with Hsieh for a year.

Chuang and Chan have tasted considerable success reaching the finals of this year's Australian Open and US Open tournaments.
