Zaragoza still looking fpr first victory of the season

Champions League hopefuls Real Zaragoza are still searching for their first win of the season after a tentative 1-1 draw against Racing Santander on Saturday.

Zaragoza, a creditable sixth last season, looked to be heading for their second successive defeat when Oscar Serrano put Racing ahead on 54 minutes but Ricardo Oliveira equalized 20 minutes later to salvage a point for the hosts.

A minute's silence preceded the match as players paid their respects to former Sevilla defender Antonio Puerta who died from multiple organ failure on Tuesday at the age of 22.

Hosts Zaragoza made the early running and Argentine international Andres D'Alessandro had the first real chance with his 35th minute effort curling just wide of the post.

Milito then had two chances to break the deadlock but it was Racing who took an undeserved lead through Serrano's mishit volley.

In Saturday's other match Murcia and Levante produced a 0-0 stalemate.

Promoted Murcia had the honor of sitting top of the table although it is unlikely to be for long with other teams in action late yesterday.
