Sevilla have been busy trying to hang onto brilliant Brazilian right-back Daniel Alves with Chelsea and Real vying for his signature.
Valencia's best bit of business this summer was hanging onto their star striker David Villa with the Spanish international attracting a lot of attention after another impressive season and 15 goals to boot.
A shot at the title looks beyond Valencia with midfielder David Albelda admitting a Champions League spot is the aim.
"There are going to be more rivals for the Champions League places this season," Albelda said. "Barcelona, Madrid, Atletico, Sevilla, Villareal and us. It is going to be tough."
Valencia host Villareal, fifth last season, on Sunday in one of the games of the weekend.
