In the playoff round at the Asian men's basketball championships yesterday, Jordan outplayed Taiwan 97-74 to take fifth place, and Qatar whipped Japan 86-82 to finish seventh.
Two-time former champions South Korea kept their hopes of reaching the Olympics alive when they defeated Kazakhstan 80-76 to finish third.
The second and third finishers of the championship will be eligible for the final Olympic qualifying round next July.
Ha Seung-jin became the top scorer gaining 25 points, including 10 two-pointers and five off his free throw, while Kim Joo-sung added 18 points and Cha Jae-young 11 points.
South Korea went down 23-25 in the first period, but took the second period 19-16 before narrowly going through 19-14 and 19-21 in the third and fourth periods.
Iran won a spot in the basketball tournament at next year's Beijing Olympics when they defeated Lebanon 74-69 in the final to win the Asian men's championship.
