Ryan Howard homered and drove in four runs and Kyle Hendrick earned his first major league victory as Philadelphia beat Cleveland 9-6 on Tuesday.
Howard had an RBI single in a three-run first, homered into the second deck in right in the third off Jason Stanford (1-1) and added a two-run double in the ninth. Of Howard's last 27 hits, 13 have been home runs.
Kendrick, a 23-year-old right-hander making his second major league start, allowed three runs and five hits in six innings.
Pat Burrell hit a two-run double in the first for the Phillies and Chase Utley added a two-run single in the seventh.
Ryan Garko, who entered in a 2-for-41 slump, hit a solo homer in the second and added an RBI single in the fourth for the Indians.
Stanford allowed six runs and six hits in 6 2-3 innings.

At Washington, Sean Casey hit his first home run of the season, one of Detroit's 17 hits, as the Tigers trounced Washington.
Marcus Thames also homered for the Tigers, who tied a season-high for runs a night after Todd Jones gave up three in the ninth and nearly blew a four-run lead. The Tigers have won four of their last five games and have scored at least 10 runs six times in 17 games this month.

At Toronto, Los Angeles' Brad Penny became the second nine-game winner in the National League and Russell Martin homered in his first major league game in his native Canada to beat Toronto.
Luis Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Dodgers, who matched a season-high in runs.

At New York, Johan Santana pitched a four-hitter -- with only one strikeout -- for his first shutout in nearly two years and Minnesota took advantage of four early errors by New York.
Santana (7-6) was handed a five-run lead by the second inning. He needed only 92 pitches to toss his fourth career shutout and first since Aug. 12, 2005, at Oakland. Santana walked none and retired 15 of his final 16 batters.

At St. Louis, Brad Thompson pitched seven strong innings to lead St. Louis past Kansas City.
Thompson started in place of Kip Wells, who was told three hours before the game that he was being sent to the bullpen.

At Atlanta, Josh Beckett pitched six scoreless innings and had a run-scoring double for Boston to become the major league's second 10-game winner.
Joining John Lackey of the Los Angeles Angels in the 10-win club, Beckett (10-1) surrendered four hits and two walks while allowing only one runner to reach third. He didn't return after the game was interrupted by a 48-minute rain delay with three innings to go.

At Chicago, Dan Uggla homered leading off the ninth inning and Florida rebounded past the Chicago White Sox after starter Dontrelle Willis was forced to leave after one inning with a tight left forearm.

At Arlington, Texas, Derrek Lee, in the Chicago Cubs lineup after appealing his five-game suspension, was 2-for-5 with an RBI double against Texas. Lee's run-scoring hit in the sixth inning off Joaquin Benoit (2-2) made it 5-4.
Rockies 3, Yankees 1
At Denver, Josh Fogg won for the first time at Coors Field this season, holding New York to four hits over seven innings.
Fogg (3-5) had gone 0-3 with a 6.66 ERA at home before outdueling Mike Mussina (3-4), who allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings.
