Chuang Chia-jung (莊佳容) and Australian partner Todd Perry lost their quarter-finals match in the mixed doubles division at the French Open on Monday, falling in two sets to China's Zi Yan and Mark Knowles of the Bahamas by a tally of 4-6, 6-7.

The two had won a close match against France's Severine Bremond and Marc Gicquel in the round of 16.

    Coming back

Chuang and Perry were victorious in that match by coming back from an early defeat to win 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7).

But they were overmatched by their fifth-seeded opponents in the quarter-finals in Monday's match.

Nevertheless, Chuang still has a shot at the finals, as she and partner Chan Yung-jan (詹詠然) were scheduled to play Australian Alicia Molik and Italian Mara Santangelo yesterday in the women's doubles quarterfinals.

    Earlier victory

The duo, seeded fifth in the tournament, earlier beat Jarmila Gajdosova of Slovakia and Akiko Morigami of Japan 6-3, 7-5.

Chang Kai-chen (張凱貞) lost to Slovenia's Polona Hercog 7-3, 6-3 in the second round of the girls singles division at the French Open in two sets on Monday.

However she came back with US partner Veronica Li to beat France's Cindy Chala and Victoria Larriere 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 in the first round of the girls doubles division to advance to the round of 16.

They will play third-seeded Ksenia Milevsaya and Urszula Radwanska in their next match.
