Silence is golden for the San Antonio Spurs. On Tuesday it cost them US$50,000.
The National Basketball Association imposed a US$50,000 fine upon the Spurs for failing to make players available to reporters on Monday, the day between games one and two of the Western Conference playoff finals.
The Spurs were given the day off on Monday after a tough stretch of five games in nine days and missed their mandatory meeting with reporters.
"A day off here and there is always good for a team a little bit either mentally or physically," coach Gregg Popovich told reporters. "You can only do so much basketball."
