La New Bears double up on the Cobras

DOUBLE HAPPINESS Fired by four RBIs from Tseng Hao-jui, La New completed a sweep of their double-header with the Cobras to end a perfect week's play

Offensively for the Bulls, Chen Chih-wei's awesome 4-for-4 hitting with a pair of RBIs led a lineup that pounded 15 hits off five different Whales hurlers.

In the earlier day game, Whales reliever Nee Fu-deh stole the spotlight from starters Yang Jien-fu (Bulls) and Tseng Jau-hao, by tossing three shutout innings of three-hit ball while fanning four and walking none to record his second win of the season.

The Whales capitalized on a wild Yang, who issued three walks and hit a batter over the first two frames by plating five early runs to set the tone for the game.

Although the Bulls would respond by scoring a run in each of the first five innings to force a 5-5 draw, that was all the runs they would produce as Nee took over from the sixth on before Saladin got the three outs in the ninth to record his sixth save of the year.

Suffering the loss on behalf of the Bulls was Yang who might have been affected by the early game time (1pm) because of Saturday night's washout in his first defeat of the year.
