    Baseball cup heats up

    The Taiwan National Youth Baseball Cup will crown its champion tomorrow at the Youth Park in Taipei, with the winner traveling to Japan to compete for a chance to compete in the Little League World Championship in the US. Teams from 11 counties and cities throughout Taiwan began the tournament, with just Taichung City, Kaohsiung City, Kaohsiung County, Taipei City, Taipei County and Taitung County still left in the running. Today's matches will determine the finalists for Wednesday.

    Chan Triumphs again

    Taiwanese star Latisha Chan (詹詠然) beat Japan's Ayumi Morita 6-3, 6-1 on Sunday at the US$50,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament in Ginza, Japan. The Chinese-language Apple Daily reported that the victory was Chan's 10th straight singles win, and her second singles championship in two weeks. The 11th championship of her career is also expected to improve her world ranking to 53.

    Chan dominant at the tournament, never losing more than five games during a set. She is next set to join up with doubles partner Chuang Chia-jung (莊佳容) at the US$50,000 ITF tournament in Fukuoka, Japan which runs through May 13.
