    Jose Bautista and Ronny Paulino hit consecutive home runs in a four-run seventh inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied for a 4-2 victory that stopped the Milwaukee Brewers' four-game winning streak on Thursday.

    Tom Gorzelanny (4-1) won his fourth straight road start, giving up two runs and six hits in seven innings. Salomon Torres pitched the ninth for his ninth save in 12 chances.

    Dave Bush (2-3) allowed four runs and six hits in seven innings, allowing just one runner past second base in the first six innings.

    Astros 7, Reds 5

    At Houston, Luke Scott hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning off Mike Stanton (1-1) and Craig Biggio followed with an RBI double as Cincinnati overcame a 5-4 deficit.

    Mets 9, Diamondbacks 4

    At Phoenix, Damion Easley and David Wright each hit three-run homers in the ninth inning and New York got its 11th straight victory at Chase Field.

    Phillies 9, Giants 7

    At San Francisco, Jimmy Rollins had two triples and drove in two runs and Philadelphia starting pitcher Adam Eaton beat San Francisco for the first time in nearly six years.

    Mariano Rivera saved two games in one day for the fifth time in his major league career and the New York Yankees beat the Texas 4-3 and 5-2 to complete a three-game sweep of the Rangers on Thursday.

    Hideki Matsui followed Jerry Hairston's tying homer off Luis Vizcaino (2-1) with a go-ahead double off Joaquin Benoit (0-1) in the eighth inning of the opener.

    In the second game, Mike Mussina (1-1) allowed one run and four hits in five innings in his first appearance since straining a hamstring on April 11. Robinson Tejeda (3-2) gave up three runs and six hits in 6 1-3 innings, falling behind for good when Doug Mientkiewicz hit a two-run homer in the second.

    Red Sox 8, Mariners 7

    At Boston, Manny Ramirez stood and admired his second homer of the ballgame as it flew into the right-center field bleachers in the eighth inning as Boston won.

    Indians 6, Blue Jays 5

    At Cleveland, Grady Sizemore hit a tiebreaking double in the eighth inning and Cleveland rallied from a four-run deficit to beat Toronto and complete a three-game sweep.

    Royals 5, Angels 2

    At Kansas City, Missouri, Gil Meche allowed two hits in seven innings, retiring 17 straight batters after Vladimir Guerrero's two-run homer in the first and leading Kansas City.

    Devil Rays 6, Twins 4

    At St. Petersburg, Florida, James Shields gave up three runs over 7 1-3 innings and Rocco Baldelli had a two-run homer as Tampa Bay beat Minnesota.
