Everton scored three goals in a 20-minute span to beat Fulham 4-1 in the English Premier League on Friday.

Lee Carsley scored first for Everton in the 25th minute, knocking in a cross from Joleon Lescott. Alan Stubbs made it 2-1 in the 34th with a header. The goals were the first of the season for Carsley and Stubbs.

In the 45th, 18-year-old James Vaughan scored off a cross from Mikel Arteta, and Victor Anichebe added a fourth in the 80th.

Carlos Bocanegra gave visiting Fulham the lead in the 22nd minute, heading in a corner from Simon Davies.

Everton has 50 points in the league, while Fulham stays in the bottom half of the standings with only 35.

Charlton moved out of the relegation zone -- at least temporarily -- by holding Manchester City to 0-0.

Emile Mpenza and Joey Barton missed opportunities for City in the first half, and Nedum Onuoha later headed over the bar.

Zheng Zhi had a chance for Charlton in the 18th, but he couldn't control Darren Bent's cross in time to shoot before Onuoha's sliding tackle.

With the draw, Charlton barely moved ahead of Sheffield United and into 17th place. The teams both have 31 points and the same goal difference, but Charlton has scored 29 goals this season while United has only 25.

    Sheffield United hosted Newcastle yesterday.

The rest of the Premier League also play yesterday, Chelsea hosted Tottenham and league leader Manchester United visited Portsmouth. Man United leads with 78 points, six more than two-time defending champion Chelsea.
