Stacy Prammanasudh of the US captured the clubhouse lead on Friday before inclement weather halted play in the midst of the first round of the LPGA's MasterCard Classic in Huixquilucan.

Prammanasudh was in the clubhouse with a 5-under 67 before play was suspended because of thunderstorms.

She took advantage of her opportunities and finished with six birdies and just one bogey.

"My swing doesn't feel completely perfect, I guess it never does," she said. "I'm just pleased to have played well today and hit some close shots to get some birdies out there."

Swedish superstar Annika Sorenstam, the two-time defending champion carded a 69.

"I thought it was a good round considering it was my first competition of the season," Sorenstam said. "I had a good off-season where I had a chance to rest and a chance to practice, but you never know what it's going to be like to put a score together. As a matter of fact, I got to the first fairway and forgot my scorecard on the tee. It reminded me that I was a little rusty."

Home favorite, and last year's player of the year, Lorena Ochoa, opened with a 71.

Yesterday, 66 players were due to complete their first rounds, with second round action to follow.

Despite her many successes last season, Ochoa admitted that she felt a little nervous playing in front of her home fans.

"I do get a little nervous, but in a positive way. I feel the people's support, whether I play good or bad. I came here to enjoy each day, to have people watching me," she said.
