"It's going to be a fun match tomorrow. I've never played Karlovic before. I think he's averaging 22 aces a match here, so it's going to be fun," he said wryly.
Murray's brother Jamie also had a date on the court yesterday, paired with doubles partner Eric Butorac. They beat Scott Lipsky and David Martin 6-4, 7-6 (7) to reach the finals.
Diamond games
Amelie Mauresmo moved within one victory of winning a US$1.3 million diamond-studded racket trophy and was to face home favorite Kim Clijsters in yesterday's final of the Diamond Games.
Top-seeded Mauresmo beat seventh-seeded Anna Chakvetadze 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 on Saturday, while second-seeded Clijsters, playing in her farewell season, defeated French teenager Tatiana Golovin 6-4, 6-3.
"Tomorrow it will be my last match here [in Belgium]. So it will be very special," said Clijsters, who struggled with her serve before winning in straight sets.
With the world's third-ranked Mauresmo facing fourth-ranked Clijsters, the 10,000 fans at the Sports Palace got the final they were hoping for.
