    Rangers down Flyers with Krog's third-period score

    Jason Krog's goal 3:49 into the third period gave the New York Rangers a 2-1 win over Philadelphia on Saturday, sending the Flyers to their ninth straight loss.

    Jaromir Jagr also scored for the Rangers, who had dropped four of their previous five games.

    Joni Pitkanen scored for the Flyers, who extended their franchise-record home losing streak to 10 games. They have won a league-low three home games and have not won at home since Nov. 24 when they beat Columbus 3-2.

    New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 17 saves for his 20th win.

    Senators 3, Bruins 1

    At Ottawa, Ray Emery made 29 saves and Patrick Eaves and Chris Neil scored third-period goals to help Ottawa get its seventh victory in eight games.

    Emery was making his seventh straight start. He had his fourth shutout of the season a week earlier in a 3-0 victory in Boston.

    Capitals 7, Hurricanes 3

    At Washington, Alexander Semin had two goals and an assist, Alex Ovechkin extended his point-scoring streak to 11 games and Washington beat Carolina.

    Eric Fehr, recalled from Her-shey of the AHL earlier in the day, scored his first career goal for the Capitals, who had lost two straight and five of six.

    Islanders 5, Sabres 3

    At Uniondale, New York, Randy Robitaille scored with 3:09 left in regulation to help rally the New York Islanders over Buffalo for their first home win since Dec. 26.

    Robitaille picked off a clearing attempt on the left side and launched a 15m slap shot that got past a screened Ryan Miller.

    Blue Jackets 3, Wild 2

    At Columbus, Ohio, Rostislav Klesla had a goal and an assist as Columbus beat Minnesota for its third straight victory.

    Dan Fritsche and Anson Carter also scored and David Vyborny added two assists for the Blue Jackets, who have won four of five. They began the day 13 points behind Minnesota for last Western Conference playoff spot.

    Maple Leafs 4, Canadiens 1

    At Toronto, Defenseman Pavel Kubina scored twice to lead Toronto over Montreal.

    Mats Sundin and Jeff O'Neill also scored power-play goals for the Maple Leafs, who have won three of five the Canadiens.

    Panthers 4, Devils 2

    At Sunrise, Florida, Rostislav Olesz scored twice and Joel Kwiatkowski had the game-winner as Florida downed Tampa Bay to win consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 27-29.

    Ed Belfour had 29 saves and Jozef Stumpel added an empty-netter at 19:39.

    Predators 6, Blues 3

    At St. Louis, Martin Erat and Steve Sullivan scored two goals apiece as Nashville beat St. Louis for the sixth time this season and 14th straight overall.

    Nashville's first five victories this season came by one goal, including three in overtime.

    Penguins 7, Coyotes 2

    At Glendale, Arizona, Sidney Crosby and Mark Recchi each had a goal and three assists to lead Pittsburgh over Phoenix.

    Ryan Malone, Maxime Talbot, Ryan Whitney, Jarkko Ruutu, and Ronald Petrovicky also scored and Sergei Gonchar added a pair assists for the Penguins, who have won five of six.

    Oilers 4, Kings 3

    At Edmonton, Alberta, Ryan Smyth had two goals and two assists and Ales Hemsky added a goal and three assists as Edmonton snapped a two game losing skid with a victory over Los Angeles.

    Shawn Horcoff also scored and had two assists, and backup goalie Jussi Markkanen stopped 32 shots for the Oilers.
