Daniel Briere scored the lone goal in the shootout, Ryan Miller made 36 saves, including six in overtime, and Brian Campbell had a goal and an assist as the Buffalo Sabres beat the New York Rangers 4-3 in the NHL on Friday.
Jochen Hecht and Chris Drury also scored for the Sabres.
The Sabres swept the four-game season series from the Rangers, and became the fifth team in NHL history to accumulate at least 20 victories through 25 games, the first since Ottawa won 21 of its first 25 last season.
Three of the four games between the two teams went to overtime.
Red Wings 3, Wild 0
At St. Paul, Minnesota, Dominik Hasek needed just 20 saves to record his 72nd career shutout in Detroit's victory over banged-up Minnesota.
Dan Cleary, Niklas Lidstrom and Mikael Samuelsson scored against the Wild, who were shut out for the first time since last November, a span of 93 games that was the second-longest streak in the NHL behind Detroit's 144.
Devils 5, Penguins 2
At East Rutherford, New Jersey, checking forward Jay Pandolfo capitalized on a bad night by Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to score the tie-breaking goal and New Jersey Devils snapped a four-game losing streak.
Jamie Langenbrunner, Patrik Elias, Travis Zajac and Brian Gionta also scored as goal-starved New Jersey avoided its longest winless streak since a seven-game skid (0-2-5) in 2001. They also enjoyed their return to the Meadowlands, where they are 9-1-1 this season.
Blackhawks 5, Blues 2
At Chicago, Tuomo Ruutu scored his fifth goal in six games and Nikolai Khabibulin made 29 saves to lead Chicago to a second straight win under new head coach Denis Savard, who replaced Trent Yawney on Monday.
Jeff Hamilton and Tony Salmelainen scored, and Mikael Holmqvist and Martin Lapointe added empty-netters for the Blackhawks, who dealt St. Louis its fourth consecutive loss.
Flames 2, Blue Jackets 1
At Calgary, Alberta, Jarome Iginla and Chuck Kobasew scored third-period goals to lead Calgary to a come-from-behind victory and its seventh straight win on home ice.
Ron Hainsey scored for Columbus, which has lost five straight on the road and has just one win in its last 11 overall. Ken Hitchcock dropped to 1-0-3 since taking over as head coach on Nov. 22.
