Beckham, Ronaldo fire Real Madrid to win in Spanish cup

David Beckham scored one goal and Ronaldo hit another to end a 215-day drought as Real Madrid cruised to a 5-1 Spanish Cup win over third division Ecija to reach the last 16 on Thursday.

Beckham has been spending much of his time on the bench this season -- and England have discarded him altogether -- though he did feature in a dire first leg draw against the minnows.

Ronaldo, who missed the start of the season after a shin operation, has also come in for criticism from coach Fabio Capello for being too fat and has had to play second fiddle to Ruud van Nistelrooy and the back-in-form Raul, who was rested on Thursday

However, this time Real made no mistake as goals from Beckham, Ronaldo, a brace by Van Nistelrooy -- one from the spot -- and Ruben De la Red helped them advance 6-2 on aggregate.
