At Boston, Manny Ramirez's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning capped Boston's comeback from a four-run deficit.

The Red Sox, who had lost four of five, hoped to stop their slide as they began a four-game series against Major League Baseball's worst team. But Luke Hudson shut them out for six innings while Kansas City took a 4-0 lead.
Boston tied the game in the seventh on Coco Crisp's RBI single and Doug Mirabelli's three-run homer. Pinch-runner Willie Harris scored the winning run on Ramirez's sacrifice fly to left in the eighth.
Mike Timlin (5-0) pitched a perfect eighth and Jonathan Papelbon worked the ninth for his 27th save. Joel Peralta (1-2) was the loser.
Orioles 5, Athletics 3
At Baltimore, Melvin Mora and Miguel Tejada hit run-scoring singles in the seventh inning to carry Baltimore to its season-high tying third straight victory.
Brian Roberts went 2-for-2 with two walks for the Orioles, who blew a 3-0 lead, then went ahead for good against Kirk Saarloos (3-6) in the seventh.
Nick Markakis and Roberts hit one-out singles before Brandon Fahey hit into a force play at second. Mora then lined a single to center and Tejada grounded a single up the middle.
Blue Jays 10, Rangers 1
At Toronto, Vernon Wells hit a grand slam in a nine-run fourth inning to lead Toronto to the win.
Reed Johnson and Lyle Overbay also homered for the Blue Jays, who have won three straight.
Toronto sent 13 batters to the plate in the fourth, tying a season high for runs in an inning. Eric Hinske and John McDonald each drove in a run, Wells hit his fourth career grand slam, and Overbay added a two-run homer off loser John Koronka (6-6). Second baseman Ian Kinsler's throwing error also led to a run.
Twins 6, Devil Rays 3
At Minneapolis, Justin Morneau's bases-loaded bloop single scored two of Minnesota's four runs in the fourth inning as the Twins rallied to get the win.
Scott Baker (3-5) gave up three runs in six innings in his return to the rotation, and the Twins improved their major league-leading home record to 34-11 with their ninth consecutive win over the Devil Rays -- dating to July 2004.
Greg Norton and Travis Lee homered for Tampa Bay, but rookie Tim Corcoran (4-1) got stuck with his first major league loss.
Angels 10, Indians 5
At Anaheim, California, Garret Anderson and Orlando Cabrera hit two-run homers and Los Angeles won its season-high seventh straight game.
Maicer Izturis had a career-high four hits and Dustin Moseley (1-0) won his major league debut, allowing four runs and 10 hits in five innings. The right-hander struck out two and didn't walk a batter.

Brian McCann hit a grand slam and leadoff man Wilson Betemit was 4-for-6 with a homer and five RBIs, leading the Atlanta Braves to a 15-3 victory which ended the St. Louis Cardinals' seven-game winning streak on Monday.
Chipper Jones had three singles and two RBIs although his 14-game extra-base hit streak, which tied the major league record set by Pittsburgh's Paul Waner in 1927, came to an end. The Braves third baseman has a 17-game hitting streak, and during his run he had eight doubles, a triple and seven homers.
Adam LaRoche was 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, Jeff Francoeur had three hits and reliever Jorge Sosa homered for the Braves, who have won a season-high six straight.
Pirates 3, Rockies 1
At Pittsburgh, Freddy Sanchez's RBI double in the eighth inning gave Pittsburgh the lead, and the Pirates handed Colorado its eighth straight loss.
Sanchez, the league's leading hitter at .363, and Jack Wilson, who scored on the double, both had two hits for the Pirates.
Marlins 4, Nationals 2
At Miami, Florida's Ricky Nolasco allowed one earned run over seven innings and drove in two runs.
Nolasco (7-6) gave up five hits and struck out four for his first win in three starts. Taylor Tankersley pitched a scoreless eighth and Joe Borowski worked the ninth for his 18th save in 20 opportunities.
Diamondbacks 8, Dodgers 3
At Phoenix, Enrique Gonzalez pitched 6 2-3 solid innings and had three singles and two RBIs, helping Arizona send Los Angeles to its fifth straight loss.
Eric Byrnes drove in three runs with his 13th homer, a 418-foot drive to center in a five-run sixth inning for the Diamondbacks, winners of six of their last seven.

At San Francisco, Bill Hall hit a three-run homer, Mike Rivera added a two-run shot, and rookie Zach Jackson (2-2) ended a four-start winless stretch.
Carlos Lee doubled twice, drove in a run and scored for Milwaukee. Prince Fielder had a double in his three hits and added a sacrifice fly as the Brewers scored 10 or more runs in consecutive games for the first time since Aug. 24-25, 2003. They won 10-5 at Arizona on Sunday.

At San Diego, Adrian Gonzalez hit two home runs, including a three-run shot in San Diego's four-run seventh inning.

Shohei Ohtani’s interpreter is being criminally investigated by the IRS, and the attorney for his alleged bookmaker said Thursday that the ex-Los Angeles Dodgers employee placed bets on international soccer — but not baseball. The IRS confirmed Thursday that interpreter Ippei Mizuhara and Mathew Bowyer, the alleged illegal bookmaker, are under criminal investigation through the agency’s Los Angeles Field Office.
