Pat Burrell hit a two-run double and Brett Myers outdueled Randy Johnson to lead the Philadelphia Phillies over the New York Yankees 4-2 in interleague play on Monday.
Myers (5-3) allowed two runs in 6 2-3 innings and Aaron Rowand had an RBI double, helping the Phillies even their record at 35-35 with their second straight win after a six-game losing streak.
Johnson (8-6) had his second encouraging outing in a row, allowing three runs and five hits in seven innings, and Jason Giambi homered for the struggling Yankees, who have lost three straight and eight of 11.
Myers gave up six hits, and had season highs with 11 strikeouts and six walks. Tom Gordon pitched the ninth against his former team for his 20th save in 21 chances.
Red Sox 6, Nationals 3
At Boston, emergency starter Kyle Snyder gave Boston five solid innings and Manny Ramirez hit his 453rd career homer.
Snyder (1-0) was waived by Kansas City on Friday and claimed by Boston, which has lost starters David Wells, Matt Clement and Lenny DiNardo to the disabled list. The 28-year-old allowed three runs, four hits and didn't walk a batter before leaving with a 4-3 lead.
Mike Timlin pitched the ninth for his first save of the year for Boston, which has won four straight.
Washington's Tony Armas (6-4) gave up four runs and eight hits with two walks in 3 2-3 innings.
Ramirez hit his 18th drive of the year in the eighth to move ahead of Carl Yastrzemski and Jim Thome into a tie with Gary Sheffield for 28th on Major League Baseball's career list.
Jose Vidro and Jose Guillen hit solo homers for the Nationals.

At Denver, Byung-Hyun Kim combined with three relievers for a seven-hitter, Matt Holliday hit a two-run homer and Colorado snapped Oakland's league-best, 10-game winning streak.
After allowing 14 earned runs in 15 innings over his last three starts, Kim (4-4) had the A's off balance all night, holding them to four hits in six innings. The side-arming right-hander combined with Ramon Ramirez, Jose Mesa and Ray King for the sixth shutout -- fifth combined -- at Coors Field this season.

At Cleveland, Henry Blanco homered and tied a career high with four RBIs to lead Chicago to the win.
Juan Pierre drove in three runs for Chicago, which won its fourth straight road game.
Rookie Sean Marshall (4-5) gave up four runs over five innings before a 73-minute rain delay in the top of the sixth.
The left-hander earned his first road win since April 14.
Cleveland has lost four in a row and 12 of 16 overall.

At Milwaukee, Jeremy Bonderman tied a season high with 12 strikeouts and Magglio Ordonez hit a two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning to lift Detroit to its fifth straight win.
Milwaukee led 1-0 after Prince Fielder's solo home run in the seventh, but gave up three runs in the eighth sparked by two bunt singles and two errant throws.
Giants 2, Angels 1
At San Francisco, rookie Matt Cain carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning and Barry Bonds hit an RBI double to help San Francisco end a three-game losing streak.
Chone Figgins singled to center with two outs in the eighth to end the longest no-hit bid in the majors this year.
Cain (6-5) struck out a career-high 10 on the way to winning his fifth straight decision. The 21-year-old allowed one hit and walked four over eight innings.
National League
The Arizona Diamondbacks squandered a four-run lead before rallying to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 when Johnny Estrada's pinch-hit single drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning on Monday.
The Pirates, losing their sixth in a seven-game homestand, loaded the bases with none out in the 10th, then had the potential winning run on third with one out in the 10th and couldn't score against reliever Greg Aquino (2-0).
The Diamondbacks, scoreless since a four-run fourth against Zach Duke, took the lead on consecutive one-out singles in the 11th by Orlando Hudson, Chris Snyder and Estrada off Salomon Torres (2-3). Jorge Julio pitched the 11th for his fifth save.
Jose Bautista cut Pittsburgh's deficit to 4-2 with a two-run homer in the fifth which represented the only runs off Arizona starter Claudio Vargas in six innings. Reliever Brandon Lyon took the 4-2 lead into the eighth, but Jeromy Burnitz led off with his 11th homer, and Freddy Sanchez doubled and scored the tying run on Ronny Paulino's single.
The Diamondbacks halted a five-game losing streak in this makeup game from a May 11 rainout.

Shohei Ohtani and his wife arrived in South Korea with his Los Angeles Dodgers teammates yesterday ahead of their season-opening games with the San Diego Padres next week.
